UFTA Nationals

We were on our way to Town Creek Alabama with a load of dogs and high hopes.

We decided last year that if running dogs for 4 days in Alabama, was fun then running for a week had to be the ultimate in tournament hunting. After 10 days away from home and running multiple dogs' everyday, I think it is safe to say we were all ready for a rest.. We all had a great time, renewed some old friendships and made plenty of new ones.

Once again, the folks at the DoubleHead resort were great. The facility is the perfect venue for a tournament of this size. Thanks to all the UFTA board members for putting on the best tournament ever. Special thanks to Tracy and Chrissie, it could not happen without you ladies. Spend a week at the UFTA Nationals and you will see that good sportsman come from all over the country, I have competed with, and shown dogs for 40 years and I can tell you that I have never enjoyed a group of people more.

Every year I think the dogs are better than the year before, this year was no exception. The birds were strong and performed very well, sometimes too good for me to hit. It was nice to see players from all over the Midwest and South pulling for each other and congratulating one another on jobs well done.

I was very proud of the dogs and handlers from K and L Kennels, 6 of the top 25 amateur dogs that made the finals, are regulars at our tournaments. The Open was not quite as good, we had some good runs, we just couldn't put 2 good runs together maybe next year. We will be running 6 events at K and L next fall, that is enough to get you qualified for the UFTA Nationals in Town Creek, Alabama next year. Hope to see all the old crew again next fall and hopefully some new faces also.
